These gimmel rings are adapted from medieval and renaissance sources, the two interlocked hoops are movable, but inseparable and form a single band. When open, the flat mating surfaces may contain a hidden engraved message and even small diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. The medium gimmel rings are about 5mm wide and have a less rounded cross section than the narrow rings.
